About the role:

The Rail Rollingstock Maintenance team is currently seeking a Maintainer Locomotive Mechanical to join them on 14 days on, 14 days off, days and nights FIFO roster from Perth to Port Hedland. Reporting to the Sup, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and modifications on the Rollingstock fleet, track machines and Non-process infrastructure to OEM specifications. It also involves performing wheel set machining, supporting rolling stock recovery operations, and working as part of the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and prompt inspections, servicing, and repairs.


Duties:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance on locomotives and associated rolling stock
  • Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs and recovery activities safely and efficiently to minimise asset downtime
  • Complete wheelset machining in line with the planned maintenance schedule
  • Plan and prepare maintenance activities, including estimating labour, time, materials, tools and equipment required
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship that improves equipment reliability, availability and performance
  • Accurately record maintenance activities, work hours and asset information in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, serviceable condition
  • Contribute to risk assessments, work instructions and maintenance procedures
  • Follow established work management and Management of Change processes

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Australian Recognised Mechanical Trade qualification (Cert III in Engineering Heavy Fabrication or Equivalent)
  • Experience in maintaining locomotives and operating track machinery
  • Current drivers licence – C class manual
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
